mRNA Decapping Selection Chart

mRNA Decapping Activities of Available Enzymes

The products of mRNA decapping reactions vary according to the choice of enzyme. The structure of the resultant products will influence whether the decapped RNA can be recapped or used in a ligation reaction.

Bold - NEB recommended enzyme for indicated substrate.
*Cap refers to both Cap0 and Cap1 forms.
a - NudC is capable of decapping limited range of m7G-capped mRNAs, but is not suitable for general decapping use.
b - When only capped transcripts are desired for analysis, prior treatment with phosphatase is required to remove existing tri-, di-, and monophosphorylated transcripts.
